Why I Started Safe at Home Physical Therapy ?
I was inspired to start my own business after working in home health for 15+years. My referrals came to me after people had accidents, injuries, and hospitalizations. Many of them could have been prevented. My goal is to work with people proactively, to help prevent debilitating injury and keep them out of the doctors office. I want to help people remain active and independent.
Research shows that the aging population can improve their strength and balance just like the younger population. We will develop an individualized physical therapy program to help you remain independent and continue doing what you enjoy.
We also offer specialized fitness programs for those
that do not have a specific diagnosis or injury, but
want to be able to continue an exercise program
after completing therapy, improve their golf game
by maximizing their strength, range of motion
and balance, or just want to start an exercise to
improve their overall fitness and health.
On completion of your program you will have a decreased risk for falling and injury. If you work hard to meet your goals you will improve your overall health and quality of your life! Falls are the leading cause of injury deaths, the most common cause of non-fatal injuries, and the most common reason for hospital admission due to trauma in older adults (National Council on Aging; retrieved from ). Being proactive about your physical fitness and home safety can decrease your risk of falls, injuries and hospitalizations.
Strengthening the right muscle groups, correcting/addressing gait (how you walk) abnormalities and balance retraining activities are just some of the additional steps that can reduce your risk of falls, improve the quality of your life, and keep you out of the doctors office!
